Flash Animation 26: Flash for Web Design: Video Playback

Introduction

Lesson 25 covered importing video into our scene and placing it on the stage using movie clips; now we're going to create playback controls for that video so that our users aren't stuck watching an endless loop--but can instead play, pause, stop, rewind, or advance the movie in our own little homemade media player.

The first step towards doing that is assigning an instance name to the movie clip containing our video, by selecting that clip and entering its instance name in the Properties bar. You may remember from our Snowman animation that we do this so that we can refer to the instance by name when telling buttons what to do to the movie clip.
